Dave Anderson's Tir Nan Og performed as part of ?ranM?r's a Play, a Pie and a Pint spring 2007 programme, has won TheDressCircle.com Award for Best New Musical at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2007.

The inaugural awards were developed by Muscial Theatre Matters (MTM:UK), the national network for producers and creatives working to nurture and develop new musical talent in Britain. They aim to celebrate the creativity of the Fringe and the potential of those creating and presenting work in Britain today.

Chris Grady, Chair of MTM:UK, said:

?The future of musical theatre in Britain is not hidden away on the CD shelves of the West End producers, nor currently playing on Broadway, nor sitting in catalogues of pop music publishers - the future is young writers, young directors, and emerging producers who take the risk by putting on new work, presenting it in a crazy theatre space, and exploring the voices of the future."

As winner, Tir Nan Og has been given a place in Perfect Pitch 2007, a showcase event featuring 12 new works which are ready for full production or development. Perfect Pitch runs from 16-28th October at Upstairs at the Gatehouse, London, and is produced by Andy Barnes in association with MTM:UK.

In all, 83 musicals were considered by the panel of assessors, with 15 musicals being nominated for one or more of six awards - so a great achievement for this remarkable Glasgow West End contribution to the 2007 Edinburgh Festival.
