Ronnie Scott BA Mphil £46.00 (£23.00)
The Department of Adult and Continuing Education is very pleased that Ronnie has agreed to offer this exciting new course. He is the author of the book "Death by Design: The True Story of the Glasgow Necropolis" published last June which traces the history of one of Glagow's best-kept tourist secrets, from the original grand scheme for a garden cemetery in the heart of the city, right through to current times. Well researched, highly informative and witty, Death by Design offers us a timely reminder that, as Ronnie Scott says 'cemeteries are for the living'.
An increasing interest in family history research (the world's fastest growing hobby), and the£35 million lottery grant that the council are pursuing with the Big Lottery Fund make this a fascinating area of research. There is a growing interest in cemeteries, and Glasgow University is launching the first ever evening class on the subject by an expert who has just completed a PhD on the subject.
