Gordon Barr, editor of ScottishCinemas.org highlights the architectural history of cinema, including converted roller-skating rinks, the earliest purpose-built halls, and the peculiarly Scottish “back court” theatres, with a focus on the West End of Glasgow, which has long been famous for the exceptional popularity of cinema-going amongst its citizens.
