Glasgow’s favourite and biggest cultural event, the West End Festival, has announced a closing event to take place this weekend on Sunday, 29 June at Kelvingrove bandstand, sponsored by CC Music and supported by Glasgow Life.

This free event will represent the community of local musicians that WEF has previously used over the years at the free stages in Kelvingrove Park on Parade Day. It will also see the bandstand being used once again during #WEF2014 for a line-up of varied bands, including former MSP Pauline McNeill and rugby legend John Beattie, both with their own bands. Michelle McManus will also perform with her band, Honest Sam and the Dealers.

2.10pm – Hat Trick
2.35pm – Community Choir
3.00pm – Mugen Taiko Dojo

Send your entry by Noon on Wednesday 25th June to westendfetival@btconnect.com

Michael Dale, festival director, explains how local bands can get involved: “We have also opened up a slot during the day for ‘amateur’ local bands to play. Bands which are interested in playing and are available, will enter a mini competition to win a slot.

“This day has been made possible because of the support it’s been given from sponsors and Glasgow Life. It’s important for us, where possible, to include local talent.”

Entries of videos and Sound Cloud links along with a covering email should be sent to westendfetival@btconnect.com demonstrating credentials. Bands must also answer the following question: What does the West End Festival mean to you? Entries should be sent by 12pm on Wednesday 25 June and chosen band(s) will be notified by Friday, 27 June.
