Walkabout GFT
29 – 30 July, 2019
Two white children are stranded in the harsh environment of the Australian outback. Lost in the wilderness, their only chance of survival is with the help of a young Indigenous man that they meet, who is performing a ritual solo wandering to mark his entrance into manhood. The development of the characters and their relationships, and the contrast of the modern and the natural, is expertly woven through Roeg’s mesmerising cinematography and unorthodox approach to editing.
