Together Unbound, gig at Websters Theatre

Czech artists united in one place to celebrate friendship and collaboration.

Together Unbound is a two-concert Glasgow series involving collaborators guitarist Jan Stránský, visual artist Karolína Trhoňová, and composer Lukáš Janata. The concert is a conclusion of a three-year pandemic remote collaboration on Lukáš’ new explorative work for solo guitar, Lamentations, specifically tailored for Jan. The two began collaborating over San Francisco-to-Weimar Zoom calls in April 2020.

When building this show, it was natural to invite Lukáš’ friend and collaborator Karolína to the team, quite beautifully symbolizing the physical and digital world, as is the key modus operandi in her work, capturing Lukáš’ and Jan’s long-lasting collaboration and friendship under the lens of introspective experimental work.

The program is accompanied by an entirely contrasting Lukáš’ guitar duo XII: Antiphona inviting your mom to present the music together, alongside Joaquin Rodrigo’s solo guitar work Invocación y Danza.

Together Unbound hopes to bring an immersive experience of the divergent sounds of guitar paired with a visual experience, underlining both the physical and digital aspects of this collaboration, to the diverse Scottish audiences, exposing them to young Czech art-making.
