The Letter, Glasgow Film Theatre
8 and 12 August, 2021
Re-release of Now, Voyager complemented with two opportunities to see another Oscar-nominated performance by Bette Davis that further demonstrates her incredible screen presence. Cold, calculating and murderous, here we see the deliciously dark side of Davis’ gigantic onscreen persona.
Davis stars in this suspenseful jungle-set thriller as the wife of a rubber plantation administrator who shoots a man to death and claims it was self-defence. Her poise, graciousness and stoicism impress nearly everyone who meets her. Then a letter turns up in her own hand that may prove to be her undoing.
