Orson Welles’ 1948 film noir stars his then estranged wife Rita Hayworth in a lurid tale of deception, fraud and murder. When Irish sailor Michael O’Hara saves the beautiful Else Bannister from muggers, he joins her and her criminal attorney husband Arthur Bannister as a seaman aboard their yacht. However, Michael soon finds himself embroiled in the sinister machinations of Bannister’s business partner George Grisby. What unfolds is a disorientating thriller that twists and turns towards its dizzying crescendo.
