The Diary of a Teenage Girl18
GFT
Friday 7–Thursday 13 August, 2015
Like all adolescents, Minnie Goetze longs for acceptance from a world that confuses and excites her in equal measures. Her mother Charlotte has very few boundaries when it comes to indulging in her various vices, and encourages her daughter to do the same. Soon, Minnie has started a relationship with her mother’s near middle-aged boyfriend Monroe which leads her to seek more and more from her life. A stark but humorous story of growing up in 1970s San Francisco, with rich period detail and a brilliant central performance from Bel Powley.
Winner of Best International Feature Film at the 69th EIFF.
