During Spain’s transition to democracy following the death of General Franco a communist politician is elected to parliament. As the country opens up to new ideas he slowly comes to terms with his sexuality; embarking upon an affair with a juvenile delinquent. Slowly he realises that his actions expose him to manipulation from the extreme right-wing forces still loyal to the ideals of the dictatorship and who will go to any lengths to resist democracy.
