Tamzene is a singer-songwriter from the coastal town of Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands. Her unique mix of Jamaican and Irish heritage encouraged an immersion in soul, funk, R&B and reggae from an early age, with her initial influences coming from hearing Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone songs played around her home before progressing to contemporary artists like Matt Corby, Melody Gardot and Solange.
Tamzene returns this Summer 2024, with her latest EP, ‘In Any Weather’, musically her most multi-faceted release to date. Co-written and produced with a host of top collaborators including Eg White (Adele, Sam Smith), Steph Marziano (Hayley Williams, Matilda Mann), and Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Sia), the project delves into Tamzene’s own journey of self-discovery: offering an intimate and personal view into her experiences of work, youth, love, and relationships.
Since releasing her debut single, ‘accidentally told you’, in 2020, Tamzene’s music has been streamed around 8 million times and has received support from Spotify (New Music Friday UK, Your Kitchen Stereo, Easy Chilled Pop Hits, Pop UK) and Apple Music (New Music Daily, New in Pop, Breaking Acoustic). Tamzene has received plaudits from local and national tastemakers, including BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Victoria Jane), BBC Radio 6 (Morning After Mix), BBC Radio Scotland (Single of the Week), CLASH Magazine, The Line Of Best Fit, The Glasgow Times (interview) and The Line Of Best Fit (interview). She recently played to a sold out audience at the Lower Third in London, having previously supported the likes of Adele, James Bay, Jack Garratt, Katie Melua and Tom Jones.
