Sorry To Bother You GFT
7 – 20 December, 2018
Rapper Boots Riley’s debut feature film has been making waves in the USA. A state-of-the-nation satire piece, Sorry to Bother You is set in an alternate present-day version of Oakland, California. Living with his girlfriend Detroit (Tessa Thompson) in his Uncle’s garage, black telemarketer Cassius “cash” Green (Lakeith Stanfield) takes a job as a telemarketer, where colleague Langston (Danny Glover) introduces him to the key to professional success – using his “white voice”. His sales sky rocket, and he is propelled into a macabre universe as a Power Caller. This Sundance award-winning comedy uses razor-sharp wit to address systemic racism.
