Beautifully shot in black and white, this is a powerful, award-winning debut from a director whose father was one of the journalists on the real-life case.
The chaos of 1980s Peru is the setting for a heartrending dramatisation of true events. Georgina (Pamela Mendoza) and Leo leave their home in the Andes and head to Lima, seeking a better life for their unborn child. When their newborn daughter is stolen at a fake health clinic, the loss is agonising, the indifference of the authorities only adding to their pain.
Eventually, Georgina turns to the press in the hope that someone will help them discover what has happened. There she meets Pedro Campos, a lonely journalist who takes on the investigation.
‘This is a work of singular delicacy, starkly beautiful… and profoundly sad.’ ★★★★★ Erlingur Einarsson, Total Film
‘Song Without A Name is a belter… delivers on the promise of the set-up – a gripping investigation.’ ★★★★ Empire
