The latest film by director Denis Villeneuve (Enemy, Prisoners, Incendies) is a bracing and brutal look at the escalating war against drugs in the border area between the U.S and Mexico. Emily Blunt plays stoic CIA agent Kate, who is drafted into a mysterious, agency-merging task force headed by rule-bending team leader Matt (Josh Brolin). With striking cinematography by Roger Deakins, a foreboding score by Johann Johannsson (The Theory of Everything) and an all-star cast, Sicario is a rare intelligent genre movie.
