Still going strong in America this folk hymn singing tradition is now spreading across Europe. It’s loud with great harmonies and interesting lyrics, wonderful group singing for all to enjoy.
Four shapes are used to identify the notes, designed as an aid for singers to learn new tunes. All Day Singings are a big part of the Sacred Harp tradition and singers are traveling from across Europe and from the USA to sing in Glasgow.
Everyone is welcome to come and sing. With so many experienced singers in the room you wont be far from someone who knows what they’re doing! The singing isn’t a performance, although you are welcome to come and listen if you prefer not to sing.
Lunch is a bring and share meal. Please bring a cold buffet dish to share with the other singers.
