Opening Day, Kelvingrove

1st October, 2014 – 10.30am – 4pm

Moving Minds

Kicking off our Festival in style, SMHAFF, in collaboration with VoX, will be taking over Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum to present a jam-packed day of festivities to celebrate diversity and wellbeing in our communities. There is something for all the family in this day of lively world music, colourful dance, entertaining theatre and exciting creative workshops.

The Glad Cafe

This inspiring musical drama tells the true story of a group of Glaswegian schoolgirls fighting for justice. Their brave and tireless work to save one of their friends from deportation not only succeeded, but also changed immigration-related practices in Scotland.

This eclectic exhibition of artwork, made by people with lived experience of mental ill health, will reflect on the theme of power and how this relates to mental health recovery. The Saturday showcase will feature live music from Progress.
