Science Fair, GFT
2 – 5 November, 2018
The stakes are high at the 2017 International Science and Engineering Fair when even the smallest infraction can cost the $75,000 ‘Best in Fair’ prize money. This documentary follows nine charismatic high school students from the US, Brazil and Germany as they enter this intense world of competition.
In Science Fair participants recite their formulas like Olympians stretching before the final race. They have spent a year of their lives on projects ranging from, a cure to the Zika virus, aeronautics and artificial intelligence, for it to come down to one afternoon of judging. As their anticipation of who will win mounts so too does the participants relief at finding a world in which they are taken seriously and where they can belong.
