Scarface, GFT
3 and 4 November, 2019
Highly controversial, and heavily censored on its Hays Code era release due to its explicit portrayal of criminal activity, Scarface stands as a hugely significant early gangster film. Tony Carmonte is a ruthless mobster intent on building his empire in prohibition-era Chicago. Fighting off all opposition, he manages to climb to the top of the heap – but his violent tendencies and overly protective attitude towards his kid sister threaten to make his success short-lived.
