Scala at GFT plus Q & A with Jane Giles
Wednesday 17 January, 2024 5.50pm
Standard screenings: Friday 8 – Thursday 18 January – Captions and Audio Description available.
Scala!!! is the incredibly strange story of the rise and fall of the world’s wildest cinema and how it influenced a mixed-up generation of weirdos and misfits.
With interviews from nearly 50 contributors, previously unseen archive footage and film clips, this is an anarchic, uproarious documentary telling the riotous inside story of the legendary cinema. Transcending nostalgia, Scala!!! is a universal testament to the power of film theatres as places where everyone is welcome.
Followed by a Q&A with co-director Jane Giles.
