Exploring the feminist revolution 50 years after the protests of May ’68 triggered revolution, ICO and Club de Femmes have curated a season focusing on women filmmakers post ’68. In The Girls, three female friends (played by Ingmar Bergman regulars) tour a production of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata as the spirit of ’68 sweeps Sweden. Life imitates art as the sex wars spill off the stage into confrontations with the audience – and husbands back home. Will the girls win this time?
This screening will be preceded by short film Hairpiece: A Film for Nappy Headed People (Dir. Ayoka Chenzira, USA 1982, 10m) and followed by a panel discussion with Kathi Kamleitner and Lauren Clarke from Femspectives, Glasgow Feminist Film Festival, artist filmmaker Margaret Salmon and curator & activist Samar Ziadat, hosted by Club des Femmes
