Between December 1944 and February 1946, On the Town ran on Broadway for a total of 462 performances. However, it is MGM’s 1949 film version, directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, that remains the best-known version. Three sailors (Kelly, Frank Sinatra and Jules Munchin) are given one day of shore leave in New York, and look to fill those 24 hours with as much fun and romance as they can before their return to sea. Screening on 35mm.
