Nas’ debut album ‘Illmatic’ broke brave new ground twenty years ago. Now, Nas: Time is Illmatic offers a unique account of his evolution from young street poet to visionary MC. Wandering through Nas’ childhood home in Queensbridge, we hear from the inspiring MC himself about his upbringing and his influences – his jazz musician father Olu Dara, New York’s young hip-hop scene – as well as the obstacles he faced as a young man before signing his first major label deal aged twenty.
