This event features works-in-progress by Maryse Larivière that were initiated through her residency at the CCA earlier this spring. After presenting an excerpt from her latest publication project, Larivière will premiere her 16mm B&W short film, Under the Cave of the Winds. Informed by Rosa Luxembourg’s compendium of letters to Leo Jogiches, Comrade and Lover, the script narrates the tribulations of fictional protagonist Maria Lorner, an artist imprisoned at the supermax on Staffa island for her political involvement in the past Referendum. A kidnapping, love letters, an antonionesque reverie… Will whistleblower Maria Lorner escape her fate? This work received the support of Conseil des Arts du Québec and CCA.
