Thomas Jerome Newton (David Bowie) is a humanoid alien that crash lands on earth seeking water for his dying planet. He uses his superior intelligence to acquire the wealth needed to save his world from an agonizing death. However, Newton falls prey to the lust, alcohol and decadence that his success brings. Nicolas Roeg’s classic film from the 1970s is not only a visionary and daring indictment of the modern world but also a moving tale on the loneliness of an outsider.
