Love Me or Leave Me, GFT
Sunday 23 June, 2019 – 1.45 p.m.
Commemorating the life of Doris Day, one of Hollywood’s most enduring stars, who died in May aged 97, with this screening of one of her finest film performances. Day’s show-stopping turn as real-life 1920s songstress Ruth Etting, is matched by an Oscar-nominated James Cagney as her gangster husband, Martin Snyder. She stays with him through fear of his obsessive control, while also beginning a dangerous affair with piano player Myrl Alderman.
Preceded by a special introduction remembering the life and films of Doris Day, by Glasgow Film Festival Co-director Allan Hunter.
