Lord of the Rings Extended Editions at Glasgow Film Theatre
27 – 29 December, 2022
Twenty years ago, Peter Jackson brought JRR Tolkien’s beloved saga, The Lord of the Rings, to the big screen in astonishingly accomplished form and broke new ground in filmmaking.
This December, GFT will screen the Extended Edition in 4K of each episode of the epic trilogy on consecutive days, giving Middle Earth fans and first time viewers a rare chance to see these magnificent films in cinema.
Featuring a cast packed with talent – including Ian McKellan, Elijah Wood, Christopher Lee and Cate Blanchett – with action and battle scenes on a scale rarely seen before, and Howard Shore’s memorable and Oscar-winning score.
The trilogy went on to win 17 Oscars and has become the high bar for cinematic fantasy and literary adaptations.
