The first Glasgow Artist exhibited at Kelvindale Railway Station has been installed byPatrick Grady, MP for Glasgow North; art by Glasgow artist Michael Cavanagh is now on view at Kelvindale Railway Station. The art complements the work done by Friends of Kelvindale Railway Station’s wildflower promotion project, and also looks beautiful beside Vincent Van Gogh’s
Poppies and Butterflies. Mr Grady is a long time promoter of Glasgow artists, and uses his Constituency Office as gallery space to exhibit their works.
Michael Cavanagh was honoured to be the first Glasgow Artist featured and delighted by the MP’s interest in his work.
Friends of Kelvindale Railway Station has been attracting the support of local politicians and activists since they undertook to turn the Station grounds into an Open Air Art Gallery and using the grounds to encourage and support pollinators like Glasgow’s declining Butterfly population. They have already been highlighted for special mention by their MSP, Bob Doris, in a Motion in the Scottish Parliament. Helen Ntabeni, Chairperson of Friends of Kelvindale Railway Station, said she was delighted that Glasgow Artists were already being displayed in the Station’s permanent collection, and that Michael Cavanagh’s piece was particularly suited to the promotion of indigenous plants they were undertaking.
