Friends of Plockton Music School Fundraising Concert
St Andrews in the Square, 1 St Andrews Square, Calton, Glasgow G1 5PP
1st April, 2014
St Andrew’s in the Square presents:
Friends of Plockton Music School Fundraising Concert
+ Cherrygrove + Daniel Thorpe + Misha MacPherson + Innes Watson
Past and present students of Plockton Music School join forces in this
unique concert to raise money for ‘FRIENDS OF PLOCKTON MUSIC SCHOOL’,
which is now funding the annual album, touring and equipment purchase
at the school. Head along and help us keep these vital activities
going by enjoying a great night of traditional music.
This event is part of the school’s annual 6th year tour (one of the
activities for which FPMS exists). The current 6th years will take the
helm for the first half of the concert.
Past participants taking to the stage in the second half are:
– Renowned fiddle player Daniel Thorpe (BBC Radio Scotland Young
Traditional Musician of the Year 2010) joined by multi-instrumentalist
Innes Watson (of Treacherous Orchestra fame).
– CherryGrove, a young quintet with a growing reputation thanks to
performances at festivals including Festival Interceltique de Lorient
and Celtic Connections. They will be fresh off their debut album
launch tour.
– Mischa Macpherson and Friends. The Mischa Macpherson Trio has just
received the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award 2014, with all 3
of the trio having attended the music school.
– Neil Ewart (BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the
Year 2014 finalist) & Suzanne Houston, who together received a Danny
Kyle award at Celtic Connections back in 2008, shortly after finishing
at Plockton.
