Glasgow Gigs: Danny Brown The Arches: Wed 25th February
Numbers and The Arches present Danny Brown
The Arches, 253 Argyle Street, G2 8DL
Wed 26 Feb 2014 | 7pm-10pm | £16 + booking fee
Numbers and The Arches team up to present Detroit rapper Danny Brown at The Arches on Wed 26th February 2014, following his triumphant debut earlier in 2013.
An endlessly funny, inventive artist, Brown’s debut album XXX was released for free download in 2011 and lapped up by hip hop critics from Spin (who named it the best hip hop album of 2011), Pitchfork and more. His second, Old, was released in August 2013, featuring a plethora of guests including Freddie Gibbs, Schoolboy Q, Mr. MFN eXquire, Scrufizzer, A$AP Rocky, Ab-Soul, Charli XCX and Purity Ring. His show at The Arches in June 2013, in the midst of fresh controversy regarding onstage antics, was one of the craziest events of the venue’s season, and we expect his anticipated return to be nothing less spectacular.
As part of Glasgow Film Festival, accompanying the show will be a series of short videos by director Rollo Jackson. Jackson’s credits include the acclaimed documentary on mixtape culture Tape Crackers as well as videos for James Blake, Hot Chip and Danny Brown’s single Dip, which was partly filmed at The Arches on Danny’s last visit here in June 2013. Buy your tickets now for one of the hip hop shows of the year. 14+ (Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+) Please enter through Argyle Street entrance
