In Greece, three siblings are trapped in their suburban home by parents who inform them that they cannot leave until their dogtooth falls out and grows back again. Things begin to go awry when presence of an outsider disrupts the absurd order of the family unit. Yorgos Lanthimos’ black-comedy forces us to examine the extent to which we are all products of circumstances outwith our own control and the bearing this has on our ability to form identities capable of free and autonomous choice.
