Corsage at Glasgow Film Theatre
27 December 2022- 12 January, 2023
Representing Austria in this year’s Academy Awards Best International Film category, Corsage is Marie Kreutzer’s witty subversion of the life of the Empress Elisabeth who, upon turning 40 in 1877, begins to rebel against the constraints of her public image.
Relentlessly laced into corsets, Elisabeth – played by the superbly sly Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread) – has had enough of being squeezed and stifled to fit into the uptight world of the Austrian monarchy. But to follow the life of decadence and excitement she craves, she must escape the anchor of Royal responsibilities, in this stylish and subversive 21st century-tinged costume drama.
Please note: these screenings will have full, unlimited seating capacity.
