The Wolf Of Wall Street
Thu 13 Feb – Thu 20 Feb 2014
Revered filmmaker Martin Scorsese directs the true story of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio). From the American dream to corporate greed, Belfort goes from penny stocks and righteousness to IPOs and a life of corruption in the late 80s. Excess success and affluence in his early twenties as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont warranted Belfort the title – “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Money. Power. Women. Drugs. Temptations were for the taking and the threat of authority was irrelevant. For Jordan and his wolf pack, modesty was quickly deemed overrated and more was never enough.

A tale of supernatural LA high-school high jinks featuring the three members of a teenage ‘coven’ – ‘The Bitches of Eastwick’. Outsiders all, they’re in need of a fourth to complete their empowered circle. When new girl Sarah arrives, her brooding demeanour and telekinetic powers announce her as the natural candidate. The school’s a hothouse of resentment, conflict and hurt, and the girls’ experiments in spellcraft are regarded as deliciously dangerous excursions into adolescent self-discovery.

Bolshoi Ballet: Marco Spada (Live) (Bolshoi Ballet)
Sun 30 Mar 2014 16:0
Music: Daniel François Esprit Auber Choreography: Joseph Mazilier (1857) New choreography, sets and costumes: Pierre Lacotte (2013) With the Bolshoi Principals, Soloists and Corps de Ballet Pantomime ballet in 3 acts. The bandit Marco Spada plunders the surrounding region right under the nose of the Governor. He hides his identity carefully and raises his daughter Angela in a castle. Completely unaware of her father’s double life and his clandestine activities, Angela is preoccupied by her love life. She longs for Prince Frederici and is shattered when she discovers he is already engaged… Hitherto rarely presented and added to the Bolshoi’s repertoire in November 2013, this swashbuckling ballet was recreated especially for the Bolshoi by French choreographer Pierre Lacotte. Marco Spada is a grandiose and unique production on both a technical and dramatic level, featuring complex choreography, five lead roles created for five principals, several changes in scenery, the participation of nearly all the Corps de Ballet, and even the presence of animals on stage. With its scenes of pantomime, devilish intrigue, rejected suitors, kidnapped heroines, rebellion and lovers’ misunderstandings, this is a fresh and joyful ballet not to be missed.
