In this adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic, Antony and Cleopatra, Rebel Cow Theatre challenges tradition with a female Mark Antony and a male Cleopatra.

A cast of eight actors tell the story of Mark Antony, one of three rulers of the Roman Empire who neglects her duties in Rome and devotes all her time to her lover Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt.

Upon hearing that her husband is dead and the frustrated senator Pompey is raising an army against the triumvirate, Antony hastily returns to Rome where she enters into a marriage of convenience. But Antony can’t stay away from her one true love for long and soon returns to Egypt and Cleopatra and in doing so sets in motion events which can only end in tragedy
