Come along to this afternoon of live music hosted by Omar Afif and CCA regulars Seeds of Thought.
Seeds of Thought is a Glasgow based collective which since its inception in 2005, continues to bring people together through poetry, art and music. Omar Afif, a Gnawa musician and dancer from Morocco, combines Berber, Arabic and Islamic traditional song. Gnawa music is a rich repertoire of ancient African Islamic spiritual religious songs and rhythms. Its well preserved heritage combines ritual poetry with traditional music and dancing. Omar plays a handsome ‘Gimbri’ –a three stringed skin-covered bass plucked lute used by the Gnawa people.
