Brides at GFT
26 September – 2 October, 2025
‘A poignant and purposeful attempt to look behind the headlines’ – Deadline
Teenage best friends Doe and Muna are setting off on what appears to be the adventure of a lifetime. Doe, quiet and observant, hasn’t travelled since arriving in the UK as a Somali refugee at the age of three. By contrast, Muna — bold, fearless, and rooted in her Pakistani heritage — leads the way through airport security and into the unknown. But this is no holiday. The girls are headed to the Syrian border in pursuit of a life they believe holds greater meaning and purpose.
When their contact fails to show, panic sets in. But turning back is no longer an option. Stranded in a foreign city, they’re forced to improvise — testing the strength of their faith, their courage, and their friendship.
Directed by Nadia Fall (Young Vic) in her feature debut, Brides is a bold and emotionally charged coming-of-age drama.
