The Golden Voyage of Sinbad 50th Anniversary + Q & A with Caroline Munro
Saturday 19 August, 2023 at 2.30 p.m.
Join The Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation for a 50th anniversary celebration of The Golden Voyage of Sinbad at GFT, with an introduction from iconic actress Caroline Munro, the ‘First Lady of Fantasy’.
Joined by Ray Harryhausen’s daughter Vanessa, Caroline will share memories of her time working on this 1973 classic, as well as their resulting lifelong friendship. As female lead Margiana, Caroline worked alongside legendary actors Tom Baker and John Phillip Law, as well as a menagerie of Ray Harryhausen’s stop-motion creations, including the Centaur, Kali, Homunculus and Gryphon.
Following a 2K screen of the film, exclusive new 3D scans of Ray Harryhausen’s original creations will be shared. In a cutting edge research project, plaster moulds from the Foundation’s archive have been scanned by students at the Glasgow School of Art. For the first time ever, digital captures of these timeless creatures will be shared, giving a unique insight into Ray Harryhausen’s original sculpts and model making techniques.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to celebrate the past, present and future of one of the most beloved fantasy movies of all time!
