National Library at Kelvin Hall is delighted to celebrate Burns Night with this special screening of Angelou on Burns, first released in 1996. Director Elly Taylor will be present to give an introduction to the documentary and take part in a post-screening discussion.
Dr. Maya Angelou

Dr. Maya Angelou, iconic poet, civil rights activist and author of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings discovered the work of Robert Burns at the age of eight and was inspired by his work throughout her career. In this documentary she travels to Scotland to celebrate his life and works, and explore the parallels between their lives.
Winner Best Entertainment Programme at the CRE Race in the Media Awards 1996. Finalist in the Media Net Awards Munich Film Festival 1996. Bafta Scotland nominee 1997.
