With a keen eye for human subtlety and a camera lens which uncovers the hearts of her characters, Lynne Ramsay focuses on the curious way in which parents shape their children – and their children search for escape – in this pair of complementary films.
Ramsay’s short film Gasman and her first feature Ratcatcher foreground the drama of ordinary Scottish lives, revealing traits, voices and unflattering truths about our communities, with her trademark commitment to stylised realism.
Red Thread Film Club run a Glasgow-based screening series in local venues. Following on from a successful Taika Waititi showcase in 2019 we are foregrounding the classic work of an innovative, Glasgow-born director whose more recent work includes We Need to Talk About Kevin and You Were Never Really Here.
