From Atlanta, Hamburg and Toronto… this year we welcome the Nollywood Travel Film Festival to Glasgow. This festival aims to create platforms for Nigerian filmmakers to network with their counterparts from elsewhere, fostering collaborations, knowledge and cultural exchanges.
As part of the festival are holding a glamorous red carpet premiere showcasing the latest Nollywood films, with a particular focus on female directors. Both Blessing Egbe and Tope Oshin will be in attendance, showing how strong female voices contribute to the growth and development of the Nollywood industry.

6.30pm – The Women – UK Premiere
In her latest production Blessing Egbe has established herself as a filmmaker with a flair for creating realistic characters and stories likely to resonate with audiences across the world. The Women offers an honest insight into marriage and friendship in the lives of four couples in Nigeria, as they go on a weekend getaway for a birthday party. Where two or three women are gathered, there is war. The Women, which is coming after Egbe’s previous hit, Lekki Wives, deals with the things women, as well as their husbands, do behind closed doors. It features Nollywood stars including Omoni Oboli, Kate Henshaw, Rita Dominic, Ufuoma Mcdermott and Katherine Obiang.
8.30pm – We Don’t Live Here Anymore – UK Premiere
In Prominence High School, two teenage boys, Tolu and Chidi, fi nd themselves embroiled in a high stake scandal that could alter the course of their future. With an impending expulsion at bay, Tolu’s mother Nike, a powerful matriarch, pulls all the strings within her power and resets the tone into what would become a battle of class, blackballing and a triggering society ready to punish anything besides the status quo. Tope Oshin is a celebrated Nigerian television and film director, producer and casting director. We Don’t Live Here Anymore boasts of a stellar cast starring Funlola Aofiyebi, Katherine Obiang, Osas Ighodaro, Temidayo Akinboro and Francis Sule. This screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Tope Oshin.
