CinemaAttic Catalan Film Festival Opening Shorts CCA
SCAT | CATALAN SHORTS + FESTIVAL OPENING PARTY
Friday, 2nd November 2018 / 6:30pm – 11:00pm
CCA, 350 Sauchiehall Street, G2 3JD
CCA hosts the Opening Night of SCAT 18. A hand-crafted selection of the best Catalan short-films seen in the past year. From the ever cosmopolita Barcelona to the rural landscapes of Catalonia.
The programme will feature a multicultural Barcelona dealing with migrants’ integration and political documentaries on Spain’s problem with historic memory.
Catalonia is living a golden generation of women filmmakers and this programme reflects both punk and realistic approaches that some of these great new directors are investigating with their films. Awarded and praised in film festivals of the likes Cannes, Berlinale, SXSW or most recently San Sebastian, catalan women are making films that are linked to life, personal stories that transcend.
VHS, zines, feminism and the myth of misogynist Pygmalion are at the heart of this first class programme of shorts that will take audiences from Calais’ Jungle to the deep rural Catalonia.
From Cannes winning-Shorts to first works, a brutal selection programmed by film punks Cinemaattic to open SCAT 18.
SCAT Opening: Saramago Rumba Party
Don’t miss the chance to dive into Mediterranean beer and explore Catalan gastronomy with a special menu created for this event while a special DJ set explore the roots of “Rumba Catalana” and its later variations.
