European Art Cinema Day, Dogman GFT
14 October, 2018
Marcello, an expert dog groomer, runs petty errands for local thieves in a grotty seaside village near Rome. But his fragile existence is torn to shreds when he falls under the influence of Simone, a bullying and violent criminal. An understated, tragicomic atmosphere is complemented by Marcello Fonte’s terrific central performance, which deservedly earned him the Best Actor award at Cannes.
Followed by a Q&A with director Matteo Garrone, broadcast live from the BFI London Film Festival. With thanks to Curzon.
