There is a distinct air of Hitchcockian showmanship surrounding Darren Aronofsky’s latest film. The director of dark fables Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan doesn’t want audiences to know many, if any, details going into the film. “Know that there’s some terrifying secret at the core of this thing”, he says. “The film’s going to go there, and you should only come if you’re ready to get on that roller coaster.” We know it stars Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem as a couple who live in the idyllic surroundings of their countryside home. Unexpected visitors arrive, and what happens next… you will have to come and see it to find out.
