Director Armando Iannucci to attend post-screening Q&A for The Death of Stalin at GFT
GFT are pleased to announce that acclaimed Glaswegian director Armando Iannucci (In The Loop, Veep) will take part in a Q&A following a preview of his new feature, The Death of Stalin, on Wednesday 11 October (19.00) in GFT’s Cinema 1. Tipped as the must-see film of 2017, The Death of Stalin is a brilliantly sharp satire exploring the internal political landscape of 1950’s Soviet Russia. In the days immediately following Stalin’s collapse, his core team of ministers tussle for control, with murderous and farcical results. The film features a stellar comedic cast including Steve Buscemi, Jason Isaacs, Michael Palin, Simon Russell Beale, Paddy Considine and Jeffrey Tambor, and has enjoyed rave reviews from the festival circuit.
Tickets for this event will go on sale on Monday 25 September, 12 noon, from glasgowfilm.org and GFT Box Office. Tickets cost £11 full price / £9 concession / £5.50 15-25 Card Holders.
Born in Glasgow, Iannucci’s career began on BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 4, where he created the character Alan Partridge (Steve Coogan). Iannucci holds writing credits on a number of television and radio programmes including Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge and I’m Alan Partridge, and the 2013 feature film Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa. In 2005, Iannucci created the political sitcom The Thick of It, and winning funding from the UK Film Council, he directed a critically acclaimed feature film, In the Loop, featuring characters from The Thick of It in 2009. The Death of Stalin is his second directorial feature film. The Death of Stalin is released in the UK by Entertainment One and screens at GFT from Friday 20 October, 2017.
