Catalyst Conversations on the Experimental Essay, Workshops, Submissions by 7 April, 2017
Experimental and Genre-Bending Essays
Elizabeth Reader, Creative Writing Tutor, University of Glasgow is organizing a pair of catalyst conversations and workshops around Experimental and Genre-Bending Essays. This is a call for participants.
Elizabeth is seeking people who are interested in looking at experimental, cross-discipline forms as a way to finding the best way to say complex things. The workshops are free, and open to writers, artists and thinkers across disciplines and mediums. Please spread the word.
How to apply
Places are really limited and in order to apply for a place please email a 50 word bio and a sample of your own experimental writing of no more than 400 words (it can contain images too, as long as it’s a size that email can handle) to [email protected]
Applications must be in by Friday 07 April and places will be confirmed by 12 April. Priority will be given to people who can make both workshops.
We look forward to hearing from you. – Elizabeth Reeder
Conversation and Workshop 27th April, 2017 10 – 17 p.m. and 18:00-19:30 p.m. – Scottish Poetry Library, Edinburgh
A day-long conversation and workshop where writers will be talking about and experimenting with genre-defying and hybrid writing – including working with images and other mediums as we explore important, essential and difficult subjects and themes. To conclude the day there will be an evening event with Max Porter, author of Grief is a Thing with Feathers, and the singer, songwriter and commentator Karine Polwart. This symposium, run in partnership with Scottish Poetry Library, will be the first of two days of workshops and will focus on generative processes of essaying.
