On 4 April 2017, cinemas across the USA will jointly screen this highly praised adaptation of George Orwell’s seminal novel – commemorating the great John Hurt and recognising the threat that US free speech faces as liberal voices are silenced. April 4th is the date that Winston Smith begins his rebellion against the oppressive government by keeping a forbidden diary, detailing his illicit thoughts and feelings. Equally bleak and beautiful, this adaptation features one of Hurt’s greatest performances, along with the last screen appearance of Richard Burton. All tickets £5.50.
