Tharlo GFT Saturday 8 – Sunday 10 October, 2016

A beautifully shot slow-burning fable.
Saturday 8 – Sunday 10 October
Running time: 2h3m
When Tharlo is informed by the local police that he must get an ID card, the Tibetan shepherd is bewildered – answering ‘I know who I am, isn’t that enough?’. The journey into the local town to get his card becomes one of realisation for Tharlo, as his austere and isolated existence is challenged by a modern world he never knew existed. Tibetan director Pema Tseden explores issues of identity, culture and modernity (along with the gritty details of herding sheep) in this beautifully shot slow-burning fable.
