Captain Fantastic, GFT, Friday 9 – Sunday 18 September 2016

Viggo Mortensen stars as a father confronting the battle of what it means to be a parent.
Friday 9 – Sunday 18 September
Running time: 1h59m
Devoted father Ben (Viggo Mortensen) lives a sustainable existence with his six children in the remote forests of the Pacific Northwest, teaching them literature, music and advanced survival skills. However when Ben receives some life-changing news, the group must venture out across America, and the children come face to face with a world that they have been shielded from. Picking up the Un Certain Regard award at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, Captain Fantastic is a remarkable exploration of what it means to be a parent whilst maintaining your beliefs. Specially commissioned programme notes will be available.
The screening on Mon 12 Sep (17.40) will be introduced by lm critic Alistair Harkness as part of Contemporary Cinema Course.
