Pre-colonial New Zealand is the setting for this savage, bloodthirsty coming of age story that is timeless in its themes of honour, respect and revenge. When his tribe is slaughtered, the chieftain’s teenage son Hongi (James Rolleston, star of Boy) sets out to avenge his father and bring peace to the lost souls of his family. Outnumbered and inexperienced, he must venture into the forbidden ‘Dead Lands’ and seek the help of the legendary fighter ‘Warrior’. A groundbreaking adventure from Dean Spanley director Toa Fraser featuring the traditional Maori martial art of Mau rakau.
