PianoPiano’s debut CD ‘dedicated…’ is a tribute to iconic women who have changed the course of history. Each track is dedicated to a female pioneer, including the Hollywood legend Katharine Hepburn, the ground breaking Amelia Earhart and Nobel prize winning Marie Curie.
Now, live on tour, ‘dedicated…’ is performed and composed for two grand pianos by award winning musicians Hilary Brooks and Karen MacIver. The performance features nine original tracks combining elements of improvisation, filmic landscape and sheer classical virtuosity.
Hilary Brooks is a multi-award winning Musical Director & Arranger. Her recent Critics Awards for best music and sound include Sondheim’s ‘Sweeney Todd’(2011) & Irving Berlin’s ‘White Christmas’(2013) and a nomination for ‘Sunshine on Leith, the musical’. Hilary composed the orchestral score for The Eastern Bride featuring the City of Prague Philharmonic.
Karen MacIver’s acclaimed work ‘Flame’ was written for the Olympic Torch Relay and underscored the film of its journey to the London 2012 Games. Karen was the recipient of a British Academy of Songwriters Composers and Authors award in 2010.
