The Sugarhill Gang: Legends. Hip-hop’s first superstars. Hip-hop’s recording pioneers. Hip-hop’s first touring group. As time moves on, the history of hip-hop has been twisted by those who have no clue about what happened between 1971 and 1979.
The Sugarhill Gang – Michael “Wonder Mike” Wright, Guy “Master Gee” O’Brien, and Henry “Big Bank Hank” Jackson – debuted with their smash “Rapper’s Delight,” with many more hits to follow. For many, the success of the Sugarhill Gang established a foundation from which rap and hip-hop continued to evolve.
